Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-07-17
These terms govern your use of the “Neo Video” app (iOS / iPadOS / tvOS / Android, including Android TV, Fire TV, and Fire tablets) and “Neo Video Server” (macOS / Windows / Linux; together, the “Software”) provided by Star Labo (“we”). By using the Software, you agree to these terms.
1. Scope
Portions of the Software obtained through the App Store, Google Play, the Amazon Appstore, or the Microsoft Store are also subject to the respective store’s terms. If these terms conflict with a store’s terms, the store’s terms prevail for the portion obtained there.
2. License
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Software for personal use. You may not redistribute, sell, rent, modify, or reverse-engineer the Software (except where permitted by law). Open-source components included in the Software remain governed by their own licenses.
In addition, the application programming interfaces, communication protocols, and endpoint specifications provided by the server functionality of the Software (together, the “API”) belong to us. You are free to use the API for your own personal use. However, except where we have expressly permitted it in writing, you may not (a) disclose or provide the API specifications to any third party, or (b) distribute, sell, provide, or publish to any third party any client or other software that accesses the API or communicates with the Software.
3. Updates
The Mac version of Neo Video Server checks for a newer version once a day and may update itself automatically (this can be turned off in settings). The command-line version updates only when you run it, and the Windows version is updated by the Microsoft Store. We may change or discontinue features of the Software without notice.
4. Pricing and purchases
The app and Neo Video Server are free. Unlocking the full version of the app is offered as a one-time in-app purchase ($5.99, ¥900 in Japan) processed by the respective store. The unlock is tied to the store account it was purchased on and is not shared across different stores. Payments and refunds follow that store’s terms and procedures. The free tier available before purchase (a limit on the number of playable videos) may change in the future.
5. Your responsibilities
Only play and stream content you are legally entitled to use. Any use that infringes third-party copyrights or other rights is prohibited. You are responsible for the computer you run the server on, your network, and your passwords.
6. No warranty
The Software is provided “as is.” We make no warranty as to its accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or the integrity of your data. Always keep backups of files that matter to you.
7. Limitation of liability
Except in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence on our part, our liability for damages arising from your use of the Software is limited to direct and ordinary damages, up to the amount you paid us for the Software (the in-app purchase price). Where consumer-protection or other mandatory law applies, this section applies only to the extent it permits.
8. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms as needed. Revised terms take effect when posted on this page. We will announce material changes on this site in a reasonable manner.
9. Governing law and venue
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan. To the extent it does not impair rights granted to you by applicable law, the court with jurisdiction over our place of business has exclusive jurisdiction in the first instance over disputes concerning the Software.
